A Brown Sheep

Just a lost little lamb with an identity crisis.

Proud brownie?
Hit like and share your love for brownies all over the world :D

I’m south Indian, though.
But yes. I approve of this.

Punjabi Girl Problems

Chanel's Indian Inspired Runway Show

complexfeminist:

Oh so now our shit ain’t fobby/weird/ethnic? Ovbs not because Karl Lagerfield doesn’t think so.

What bodies are legitimating? Why not throw in some of our own ‘ethnic’ beauties?

Appropriation…

I really don’t know how I feel about this.

However, I really want a classic blue Chanel purse, like Kim Kardashian’s.

It was bound to happen, “Indian-inspired” lines from big-name fashion corporations.

But the thing that really bothers me is how Indian things are always viewed as “exotic” and “lovely”—this is something that’s been part of a certain peoples’ culture for thousands and thousands of years, and it’s taken and changed to suit the fashion industry. No pun intended.

It’s not limited solely to fashion, either. It’s prevalent in one of my favorite series, in fact, the “exoticness” India—and things pertaining to it—seem to have. I realize that it’s an inescapable thing, and will no doubt be repeated time and time again in the future.
